InfoChange was set up in 2000 to provide services including news and features, research, editing, publishing and content management to publishing houses, development organisations, institutions and corporations.

The various InfoChange divisions are:

InfoChange News and Features

www.infochangeindia.org which was conceived and constructed by InfoChange, provides daily uploads on the development stories of the day, plus the background and context for development issues in India, and stories of change from the grassroots.

This website constitutes the news and views channel of icicicommunities.org, a cyberdonation site sponsored by India's leading financial institution.

InfoChange Web Management

We have developed the content and designed and deployed the website for Gram Vikas (www.gramvikas.org), a well-known rural development organisation based in Orissa.

We provide high-quality research on development issues, disaster management, philanthropy etc. In 2000, InfoChange was commissioned by Christian Aid, London, to research and write a series of seven case studies on disaster management interventions in Orissa after the supercyclone of 1999. The case studies were:

  1. Vulnerability, displacement and trafficking of women in Orissa after the cyclone
  2. The impact of the Orissa supercyclone on children
  3. The role of enabling infrastructure in disaster preparedness: A case study of housing interventions in Orissa
  4. Community perspective in disaster mitigation: Lessons from three villages
  5. Grants vs loans in disaster management: A study on the experience of micro-finance in Orissa after the cyclone
  6. Disaster to development: An effort towards micro planning
  7. Community participation in ecological regeneration: An experiment in disaster preparedness

InfoChange was promoted in the year 2000 by a team of experienced, highly-regarded and competent media professionals, communication experts, development researchers and analysts. All mid-career professionals, we were brought together by the shared desire to use our knowledge and skills in ways that would help bring about change in the lives of the most deprived sections of society. And in doing so, bring about change in our own lives.

We have a wide network of well-known journalists and development professionals within India and across the world.
